What kind of people help us?
Affordable sponsorship rates mean we have a wide and diverse range of sponsors. They come from every State in Australia and from five overseas countries, eg Scotland, England, Ireland, Thailand, and Taiwan.
Our sponsors range from young unmarried people, to married couples with young children, to grandmothers who are sponsoring with their grandchildren, and to those who have been with us for 40 and more years, being there almost from the start of the organization. There are also sponsor groups such as St Vincent de Paul Conferences, schools, sewing groups, play groups, church groups, coffee groups, and women who meet socially on a monthly basis.
Because of our personal contact with the children and their centres we receive many letters affirming our work, stressing that it is the one on one relationship that our donors value. Sponsorship really is an achievable and rewarding way to impact strongly the direction of another person's life.
Here are a few of the comments we have received over the past few years.
Comments from some of our sponsors:
Wedding Anniversary Wishes
"Many thanks for your good wishes on the occasion of our 50th wedding anniversary and for the acknowledgement of the gifts you have received from our friends. I enclose two more donations from our guests. We would like the money to be used for your special projects."

Visiting a Sponsored Child
The brother of a friend came with me from Coochin to act as interpreter. After a nightmare drive in a taxi, (the 45 kilometres took nearly 2 hours!) we found the orphanage.
We were warmly welcomed by the Sister Superior and then taken on a tour of the centre. Sister took us, with great pride, to see the computer room which has 8 computers, new furniture and one printer. It is kept locked with the shutters closed! The rest of the place was quite bare but the children were so happy and friendly. There was a meal prepared for us, and then some of the girls danced. It was magic!

Correspondence to Sponsors
It has been a joy to have received lovely letters from the Sisters and sponsored children. They all appear to be doing very well indeed.

It is over 20 years since I first started corresponding with dear Sister Aloysia, as my three (now adult) children grew up. She sent special handmade finest cotton gifts for the babies when they arrived and carved timber toys at Christmas. It is wonderful knowing her work is being carried on. I remember our first sponsored child, at one time, had to leave school as her family was impoverished but Sister Aloysia trekked to her village and helped somehow, and she went back to school.
The Coaching Classes and Tailoring classes, hopefully, will continue for many years and so perpetuate the years of hard work and dedication Sister Aloysia gave. Thanks to your committee also for your marvelous work.
Regards, Lesley
An indomitable spirit
In regard to not being sure how long in the future I can sponsor children, the reason is that I am 86 years old and, although in good health now, one never knows how long one has to live! With this in view I intend sending extra money for you to hold for when I am no longer here!
As I have just received an unexpected cheque I'm enclosing a donation for $100 for your East Timor Appeal. Could you send me some more brochures so that I can tell people about your work?

We have been looking for a welfare organization to donate to, where we have the assurance that all the money we donate will be received by the recipient. I heard of St Veronica's through one of your representatives speaking at my girlfriend's parish and thought it sounded ideal for what we want to do.
